Ulundhu Kali | Ulutham Kali


Urad Dal 1 cup
Jaggery 1.25 cup
Gingelly oil 4 tbsp
Cardamom powder 1 tsp
Ghee As required
  1. Heat a wok in medium heat and add the urad dal
  2. Roast it until you get a good aroma
  3. Now remove it and grind it to a fine powder
  4. Melt the jaggery in another wok with ½ glass of water
  5. When it starts to bubble remove from heat and strain it to a clean wok in medium flame
  6. To add the ground powder to the jaggery liquid
  7. Mix it well in low flame
  8. Add the cardamom powder
  9. Add 1 tbsp. of gingelly oil
  10. Allow it to get cooked for 10 minutes
  11. Now add the rest of the gingelly oil
  12. The whole mixture will start to leave the sides of the pan – perfect consistency to remove
  13. Remove from heat and allow it to cool for 5 minutes
  14. arrange paper cups in a tray
  15. now grease your hands with ghee and take small portions and place it in the tray
  16. after 20-25 minutes remove it from the paper cups and form it into a ball
  17. arrange and let it cool for 1 hour
  18. serve it and enjoy
